I’ve had an idea for a song called “More Than The Lights” but hadn’t worked on it much until recently.
I think it’s a good start in conveying the idea that all the things we experience and love during the Christmas season aren’t bad in themselves but are reverberations from the impact God made when He presented us with His Son. They aren’t to be worshipped but are there for us to enjoy and remind us of the One to be worshipped.
Hope you enjoy the song! Let me know if it made the impact it did on me. Happy Holidays! 🦃🎄
More Than The Lights
Verse
Sitting in the warmth of firelight glow
Captured by the silent, falling snow
Lights all set and decorations gleam
Surrounded by the love of family
I can lose myself in all the season brings
But I don’t want to hide the forest with the tree
Chorus
More than the lights
(More than) Silver or Gold
More than frost from a winter’s night
Nipping at your nose
More than the songs
Sung of Evergreen
It’s the sound of the applause for a Newborn king
Verse
The gifts have all been wrapped and placed with care
The pattered steps of children on the stair
Eyes ashine with wonder at the scene
A long wait’s end is now within their reach
I can lose myself in all the season brings
But I don’t want to hide the forest with the tree
